Project "Ultrasonic"

My 1981 Moto-Ski Ultrasonic. This is how it looked the day i picked it up.

The POWERPLANT! 440 L/C rotax, with rotary valve, twin 36mm mikunis, and twin factory tuned pipes.

you can see it came customized by mother nature.

I have since stripped it down. I discovered that the chaincase side body panel will have to be replaced. It had some big rust holes, and was in bad shape.

A picture of a nice 81 that I found on ebay a while back. I have only ever seen a handful of Ultrasonics.

The engine had moisture in the cylinders/crankcase. I tried to get by with rinsing it out in the parts washer, but ended up having to split the case and install new bearings. Also, new pistons were installed, and everything checked over.

My half attempt at the restoration. The spray paint didnt give me the definition I wanted, so it came back off.

The seat was recovered, a new camoplast track (thanks scott)installed, along with new slides, pistons rings, gaskets, windshield, paint, and alot of time.

Here it is after a trip to the paint booth, and the new panel being welded on by ray.

Here is the engine before startup. After start up, it will come out and be put back in 2 more times.

Just about finished. I still needed to put on the decals, windsheild, and mount the guages. The engine came back out the first time after initial startup because it would not run properly on both cylinders. It ended up being a problem with a coil on the stator. It was put back in the night before a local show. Then after the show, it would come back out. I won 1st place in my class (best 79-83 restored) and decided to go on the vintage trail ride. I made it about 2 miles, and the engine siezed. So, after tearing it apart, 2 case bearings were shot, and needed to be replaced. Its back together now, and the engine will hopefully stay in for the remaining life of the sled.

The sonic and blizzard in the driveway after the sonics 1st completion.

The Blizzard in its homosexual stage. I was definatly not a big fan of the little snow flakes painted on the side. I had the seat recovered, buffed out the hood, did lots of clutching work, added new slides and wheel bearings, and some carburation work. I was very frustrated with it when I first bought it, but it was soon overcome. Now it is one of my favorite sleds

Me on the Blizzard at the Eagle River Reunion 2003. I didnt place, but it was alot of fun!

My uncles 1970 Ski Doo TNT 340 single. I also got to run it at the grass drags 2003. 2001 world champion, Rick piloted it to 1st place in its eagle river racing debut.

Another pic at the 2003 grass drags. I have since spent a little more time sorting things out on it. I ended up finishing 1st place at the green lake vintage grass drags, and 2nd at the Eagle River reunion. In 2005, I didnt have much time to test, so I didnt end up placing at either race, but was lucky enough to be able to attend while going to school.

I didnt do too well at the grass drags, so I tried out the ice! I ran 73 MPH in 1000 ft with a run-whatyabrung setup. I got beat out of 1st place by a modded SRX, running 79 MPH.

My 1973 Arctic Cat El Tigre 340 F/A. It is original unrestored, and in very nice shape.

My uncles friend, Rubber, restored this super rare 1971 Scorpion Super Stinger. He bought it brand new in 1971, and hung onto it for all these years. It is powered by a 440 Kohler F/a, and has custom built expansion chambers. No expense was spared. Ive heard rumor he is building another one! Alos pictured is Nick Henrickson's Sno Pony.

The YamaDoo. 1975 yamaha sl338f with a 399 rotax from a nordic planted into it. It runs great, and maxes out at around 50 mph (going downhill). Not to fun to ride over 1 mile on.

It definatly brings back memories. Nothing like being stranded on the trail at 11:30 at night. (it helps to have enough gas to make it home)

I picked up this nice 1977 RV from a teacher in high school. It did run after cleaning out the carbs and old gas, but has since lost spark. I am looking for a complete Nippon Denso ignition system. Please send me an email if you have one.

340 F/A Rotax with twin pipes, aftermarket 38mm mikunis, and a comet clutch. My teachers boyfriend said it was his brother in-laws who used to race it every once in a while. Every time it ran, it got a trophy. Well I soon found that hard to believe after testing it.

It sure did clean up nice! I will hopefully get some better pictures of it in the winter. I plan on making it race-ready for the oval.
